Erk Aicrag kann auch anders. Auf seinem neuen Club-Smasher „Radio Paranoia“ peppt er den Electropunk-/Hard-Electro-Mix seines Solo-Projektes Rabia Sorda nicht nur mit einer ordentlichen Dosis Achtziger-Groove auf, sondern er beweist sich, neben seinen altbekannten Shouter-Qualitäten, auch als rotzig-kratzbürstiges Gesangstalent. Solitary Experiments - Immortal
Satte Electro-Beats, kombiniert mit einer einprägsamen Stimme und einer Melodie, die sofort im Ohr hängen bleibt: Solitary Experiments melden sich eindrucksvoll mit ihrer neuen Single „Immortal“ zurück und spielen ihre Stärken voll aus. Blutengel - Schwarzes Eis
Die Berliner Band Blutengel ist ein einzigartiges Phänomen. In nur wenig mehr als einer Dekade ist die Gruppe um Sänger und Kopf Chris Pohl zum Synonym einer einzigartigen und oft kopierten Stil-Symbiose aus Gothic, Pop und elektronischer Club-Musik geworden und hat eine ganze Szene maßgeblich geprägt. Blutengel sind dabei jedoch niemals stehen geblieben, sondern haben ihren Stil mit jedem Album weiterentwickelt und ausgebaut. Aber selbst nach Blutengel-eigenen Standards ist der neue Longplayer, „Schwarzes Eis“, ein Quantensprung. Auf ihrem bis dato mit Abstand vielseitigsten und ambitioniertesten Album verbindet die Gruppe das Beste ihrer jeweiligen Schaffensperioden, lotet behutsam die eigenen Grenzen aus, betritt auch gerne ein wenig Neuland, ohne dabei die eigene Identität aus den Angeln zu heben. Es schlugen ja schon immer zwei Herzen in des Blutengels Brust – die Club-kompatible, „härtere“, Rhythmus-orientierte-, sowie die elegische, schwelgerische und romantische Seite. Berlin-based band Blutengel is a one-of-a-kind phenomenon. In less than a decade’s time, the group headed by singer and mastermind Chris Pohl has become synonymous with a unique and often imitated stylistic symbiosis of Gothic, Pop and electronic club music and has shaped an entire genre. Over the years, Blutengel have never stagnated, instead enhancing and developing their trademark style with every new album. But even according to their own high standards, their new long player “Schwarzes Eis” is nothing short of a revelation. Easily Blutengel’s most versatile and ambitious work to date, the group manages to fuse the best of all its different creative periods and to cross borders without sacrificing its own identity. Nachdem Steve Naghavi mit Erschrecken feststellen musste, dass das Club-Volk von heute leider von den bahnbrechendsten Synth Pop Hits der Achtziger keinen blassen Schimmer mehr zu haben scheint, war der missionarische Eifer in ihm erweckt. So wurde kurzerhand eine illustre Auswahl von Genre-Klassikern, von „Blue Monday“, über „Big In Japan“, bis hin zu „The Sun Always Shines On TV“ einem ausführlichen Naghavigationsprozess unterzogen. Steve Naghavi couldn’t help but noticing that large parts of today’s club crowds had no more knowledge of the ground breaking Synth Pop Hits of the Eighties – which awakened a missionary instinct in And One’s restless front man. Düstere Welten, geheimnisvolle Mythen und Sagen, Utopien, die immer schon erdacht, erträumt oder gefürchtet wurden, weil sie unbekannt und bedrohlich erscheinen. Ebenso wie das Dunkel der Nacht, mit ihren Wesen, kaum zu sehen für den, der nicht richtig hinschaut und aufmerksam lauscht: Aus diesen Sphären schöpft Mina Harker die Materie für die Geschichten ihres sensationellen Debütalbums „Tiefer“ – surreal, außergewöhnlich und leidenschaftlich. Die Interpretation der Songs gestaltet sich außerordentlich individuell, was sich besonders in der unverwechselbar kräftigen Stimme ausdrückt, die sich mal engelsgleich behutsam, dann wieder glashart und schonungslos aber vor allem immer klar und gefühlvoll in die weiten Stimmungsbögen einfügt. Since the beginning of time, mankind has dreamt up, conceived and often feared the dark worlds, mysterious myths, folklore and utopias, due to their inconceivable and menacing nature. The dark of night, with its myriad creatures, often hard to spot for those that do not listen or watch attentively, holds a similar fascination. It is from these spheres that Mina Harker gathers the inspiration for her tales, which are oh so perilous, surreal, outstanding and passionate. The songs are interpreted in a highly individualistic manner, carried by a powerful voice that can be as fragile as an angel and in the next moment harsh and relentless, but that always integrates itself passionately into the wild mood swings of the music. The highly polished song arrangements, built around the hard guitar sounds of Alexander Gorodezki, who, together with Mina Harker, forms the creative core of the band, form an effective counterpoint to the emotional vocals. Hand auf’s Herz: Welcher Veröffentlichung der letzten Jahre im Electro-Sektor könnte man ohne wenn und aber attestieren, sie würde bahnbrechend Neues bieten und hätte nachhaltig für frischen Wind gesorgt? Abgesehen von ganz wenigen Ausnahmen verließen sich alle vermeintlich modernen Acts letztlich doch immer auf erfolgreiche Konzepte, während die Altmeister entweder stur ihrer Linie folgten oder in Terrains vorstießen, die so weit entfernt von den eigenen Wurzeln lagen, dass die Fans ihnen nicht mehr folgen mochten. Ausgerechnet zwei blutjunge Talente aus Schweden schicken sich nun jedoch an, vieles anders und in so mancher Hinsicht deshalb auch besser zu machen: Auto-Auto. Gänzlich unbeeindruckt von aktuellen Trends und losgelöst von jeglichen Konventionen, verwirklichten sie ihre Vision von elektronischer Popmusik, die herrlich unbeschwert, clubtauglich über die Grenzen muffiger Keller hinaus und verdammt cool wirkt. Face the facts: was there any release in the Electro-sector in the past years that really brought innovation and a breeze of fresh air to the scene? Most of the so-called “modern” acts kept recycling concepts that are known to be successful while the grey eminences either stayed straight in line with the sound they were renowned for or ventured into territories that were so far away from their roots that the fans were unwilling to follow. Two young talented guys from Sweden have now set out to do things a little differently and in many ways better: Auto-Auto. Left cold by current trends and removed from all conventional approaches, they are creating their very own vision of electronic Pop music that is refreshingly easy-going, highly club-compatible and pretty darn cool. Where others refrain from breaching certain barriers, Johan Hellqvist and Erik Frankel are plunging in head-first and are not afraid of incorporating rapped passages, analog minimalism and heart-warmingly nonsensical samples into their sound. They are masters of creating melodies that are catchy as hell without ever drifting into banality. Amduscia - Madness In Abyss
Mexiko macht wieder Alarm! Das zweite mittelamerikanische Aushängeschild in Sachen Harsh Electro hat seinen dritten Longplayer im Kasten - und was für einen! Härter und infernalischer denn je bricht „Madness In Abyss“ über uns herein. Rhythmische Loops und pumpende Beats prasseln nieder, die ultra-verzerrten Vocals und peitschenden EBM-Sequenzen schneiden sich tief ins Fleisch. Ihr Markenzeichen, die maschinelle Vergewaltigung von Elementen aus Techno und Trance, haben sie Edgar, Polo und Raoul zwar erhalten, doch sind diese heute tiefer eingebunden in vielschichtigere und sample-reichere Klangkonstrukte als bisher, was für mehr Komplexität sorgt und das letzte bisschen Licht aus den Songs verbannt. Mexico attacks again! The other Middle American figurehead in Harsh Electro has completed works on its third album – and it is a hefty experience, indeed! Harder and far more infernal than ever, “Madness In Abyss” crushes us with rhythmic loops and pulsing beats while heavily distorted vocals and whipping EBM-sequencers kick us in the face. Edgar, Polo and Raoul have left their basic sound, an industrial perversion of Techno and Trance, intact but have embedded them in more complex and intense, sample-heavy constructs, thus banning the last spark of light from their songs. The Mexican trio has kept the clubs in mind as well, though, basing their Hardfloor attack on straight beats combined with atmospheric soundscapes that provide their aggressive sounds with a catchy edge. The limited first edition comes in a Digipak and contains a bonus disc that shows the trio from a different musical side which is dominated by extraordinary Dark Ambient tracks – the perfect sounds for a mad trip into the insides of a psychopath. Container 90 - World ChampionShit
Vor mehr als 20 Jahren prägten Front 242 und Nitzer Ebb den EBM-Begriff und formten mit ihrem Sound ein ganzes Genre nachhaltig. Es ist kein Geheimnis, dass die eisenharte Body-Fraktion neue Helden braucht, die mit Sequenzer-basiertem High-Speed-Geprügel den Staub aus den Clubs und gut gehüteten Plattensammlungen fegen. Dabei zeichnet sich schon seit geraumer Zeit ab, dass dieser Aufgabe momentan nur ein einziges Unternehmen wirklich gewachsen ist. Sein Name: Container 90. Ron und Jon sind der Inbegriff purer EBM. Diese drei Buchstaben bedeuten für die beiden Schweden nicht einfach nur Musik, sondern ein Lebensgefühl. Ihre Eigenproduktion „Scandinavian Masters“ explodierte vor zwei Jahren im Herzen der Brikettfrisuren, Stomper und Poger, ihre Gigs entwickelten sich stets zu schweißtriefenden Schlachten mit massivem Körpereinsatz. Kurz: Die Oldschool-Freaks erlebten eine Sensation. Das Rezept ist so einzigartig wie wirkungsvoll, denn Container 90 scheißen auf Hörgewohnheiten, Anpassung und vor allem Kommerz und geben ihrem tief in den Achtzigern verwurzelten, muskelbepackten Sound ein so wütendes und rotziges Gesicht, wie man es sonst nur von räudigen Punk- und Hardcore-Kapellen kennt. More than 20 years ago, Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb kicked off a genre called EBM and became the formative powers behind its sound. It is no secret that the EBM diehards have long been searching for new heroes that are willing and able to blow the dust out of the clubs and well-kept record collections with a smashing sequencer-based high-speed attack. At the moment there seems to be only one group that can tackle this gargantuan task: Container 90. Ron and Jon seem to have the essence of pure EBM infused into their blood. For the two Swedes, these three letters do not just stand for a musical genre but for a whole way of life. Two years ago, their self-produced “Scandinavian Masters” exploded into the hearts of the flat tops, stompers and pogo-freaks and their gigs quickly became sweaty fun-battles with excessive physical exertion. In short: the old school freaks were in for a mighty treat! The duo’s concept is as unique as it is effective, as Container 90 are not giving a damn on listening habits, conformity and commerciality and their sound, deeply rooted in the Eighties, sports the same sort of aggression and in-your-face attitude that we have come to know from raunchy punk- and hardcore bands. Cephalgy - Herzschlag
Die dunkle Seite kann so verlockend sein! Besonders, wenn sie in Form von schwarzen Ohrwürmern mit satten Beats daher kommt… wie auf dem neuen Album der deutschen Electro-Gothic-Band Cephalgy. Animal fever, animal fever!“ Ein sich ständig wiederholendes Mantra über einem ritualistischen Elektrobeat machte das Stück „Bite Of God“ des französischen Art-Electro-Projekts Die Form zu einem der prägendsten Erlebnisse in der Club-Szene der Neunziger. Die Art und Weise, wie Philippe Fichot und Eliane P. kalte, synthetische Klänge, emotionslosen Sprechgesang und monotone Rhythmen einer glockenklaren Frauenstimme und analoger Wärme gegenüberstellten, erzeugte ein einzigartiges Spannungsfeld – wie eine Art ritueller Sog. Von vornherein als multimediales Kunstprojekt angelegt, verbanden Die Form auf ihren Veröffentlichungen Musik, Fotokunst und Video zu einer intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit der Liebe in ihren extremsten Ausprägungen. Diese Auseinandersetzung ist jedoch nie nur distanzierte Beobachtung, sondern immer eine direkte Umsetzung der Emotion selbst, mit allen damit einhergehenden Obsessionen – was der Grund dafür ist, dass Stücke wie „Bite Of God“ auch vom multimedialen Konzept losgelöst im Club ihre volle Wirkung entfalten und noch immer zum Standardrepertoire jeder guten Dark-Veranstaltung gehören.

Die Form have always used their releases as vehicles for expressing their emotions rather than playing the part of a remote observer… which accounts for their music also being able to unfold its power to full impact when removed from its multi-medial context on the dance floor of a club… and which makes tracks like “Bite Of God” still mandatory spins at any decent dark disco event.

With their new single “Her(t)z Frequenz”, Die Form are now returning their concept art to the clubs. A driving beat builds the foundation for an energetic interplay between Fichots cold, electronically manipulated vocals and Eliane P.’s mesmerising, fairy-like melodies. The title track is a cunning combination of the catchiest grooves ever to be found on a Die-Form-release and the hypnotic interaction between coldness and emotions that has always been the unique trademark of this project. The b-side is a re-recorded version of the classic “Bite of God” which features new beats and more dominant female vocals and builds up to a magnificent rhythmic crescendo at the end – a stunning appetizer for the upcoming compilation of the group’s best tracks in newly recorded versions. The single is rounded off by exclusive remixes and alternative versions. Aesthetic Perfection - A Violent Emotion
Muß harter Electro immer den eingefahrenen Bahnen folgen? Nein! Aesthetic Perfection treten mit ihrem zweiten Album den Gegenbeweis an. „A Violent Emotion“ ist ein aggressiver Floorshaker mit markerschütternden Shouts, bassintensiven Beats und infernalem Drive… und noch viel mehr. Daniel Graves ruht sich nämlich nicht auf typischem 4-to-the-floor-Gestampfe und ewig gleichen Trance-Licks aus, sondern ist sich der Tatsache wohl bewusst, dass auch ein hartes Brett von ausgeklügeltem Songwriting, vielschichtigem Sounddesign und vielfältigen Einflüssen profitiert, und dass aggressive Passagen um so brachialer wirken, wenn man ihnen einprägsame Melodien entgegensetzt. Hier treffen harte Club-Brecher auf EBM-Sequencer, Synth-Pop-Einflüsse, schwere Shufflebeat-Stampfer und Electropunk. Graves meistert nicht nur mega-aggressive Shouts mit Bravour, sondern ist auch ein überaus fähiger Sänger. So werden melodische Gesangsparts geschickt in das Inferno eingeflochten, wie eine unheilvolle Ruhe vor dem Sturm, um einen intensiven Spannungsbogen entstehen zu lassen, wie man ihn im Hard Electro sonst nur selten findet. Auch textlich bedienen Aesthetic Perfection keine pubertären „Ich bin voll evil“-Klischees, sondern gehen ins Persönliche, Zwischenmenschliche… dorthin, wo es wirklich weh tut. Das Album enthält den von „Awake The Machines Vol. 6“ bekannten Club-Hit „Pale“, und wurde von Krischan J.E. Wesenberg (Rotersand) co-produziert und gemastert. Harter Stoff mit Köpfchen – violent AND emotional!

Does hard Electro always have to follow along the same paths? No way! On their second album, Aesthetic Perfection effectively prove the contrary. “A Violent Emotion” is an aggressive floor shaker with searing shouts, deep bass beats and an absolutely infernal drive… but it is also so much more. Daniel Graves goes far beyond standard 4-to-the-floor-stompers and ever-similar Trance-licks, knowing full well that, just like any other kind of music, a hard inferno will profit from intelligent song writing, versatile sound design and a combination of different influences and that aggressive parts will hit you even more effectively when contrasted with catchy melodies. Hard club smashers meet EBM-sequencers, Synth Pop influences, heavy shuffling stompers and Electropunk. Graves is also not only a master at relentlessly aggressive shouts but has got a pretty impressive singing voice as well. He, thus, cunningly integrates melodic vocals parts into his sonic inferno, thus creating a sense of tension that few others in hard Electro can match - like the ominous calm before a devastating storm. It is rather clear that the lyrics on “A Violent Emotion” will not invoke any infantile “I am so evil!”-clichés, either, rather aiming at the personal realm … hitting it where it really hurts. The album contains the club hit “Pale” (from “Awake the Machines Vol. 6”) and was co-produced and mastered by Krischan J.E. Wesenberg (Rotersand.) This is intelligent hard stuff… violent AND emotional!

Blutengel - Moments Of Our Lives

A Blutengel-concert is always an extraordinary and highly special affair – with its dark atmosphere, the theatrical performance and the energy and spirit that the catchy Gothic-tunes evoke in an audience, resulting in them collectively going crazy over the music. A Blutengel-concert is like an audiovisual experience in cinemascope. It was, thus, rather obvious that a documentation of Blutengel’s “Labyrinth”-tour would have to be on DVD. Der Titeltrack „Move“ ist eine Pop-Hymne wie aus dem Bilderbuch – auf elektronischen Beats croont sich die klare Stimme von Robert Enforsen durch eine luftige Melodie mit einem hohem Ohrwurm-Faktor! Before the long-awaited new album of Swedish Synth Pop legend Elegant Machinery is due to hit the shops in autumn, the band is spicing up this year’s summer with a new single. The masters of Dark Electro Pop have thought up something special to kick off their anniversary in style.
